Season X - Game III

As always, I will use my tweets to give my thoughts on the game.  Here we go!

 

5 1/2 hours before Moncton Poker Club's game 3! ... and about 7 hours before we indulge in Barb's Fricot! Fun!

Tweeted this at 10:30... was pretty excited to play some poker

 

@TWMelanson @Sherry_McNeil signed out? pfft. On a scale of 1 to 10, you two rank a SUCK.

They signed-out last minute.  Just sharing my emotions! 

 

@jimblacquiere Still sticking to your guns and not coming eh?

Jim never answered, but it really looks like he's sticking to his few months hiatus.  Did anybody figure out the real reason??

I showed up a little late (as always), so this was my first tweet.  Marc was running extremely bad. Getting premium cards, getting big hands and always getting beat by slightly better hands.  Here is a picture of Marc with half of his starting stack after only an hour or so.

 

 

I didn't tweet this, but I finally got a chance to take pictures of the two tables.

 

Dave Fraser just hit quads! Not a huge payoff, but still 5 points!

It seems like quads are more and more common lately, but I still giggle like a school girl when somebody gets it. I always get excited when big hands hit.

Amazing fricot... and really, the spread in general.  Fricot, clam chowder, rolls, pepperoni, cheese, chocolates, fruit, etc etc etc. Man, everybody stuffed their faces!  Thanks again Barb and Dana. You guys should host more games!

 

Stacy is all in and Shawn calls. AQ vs AQ. Split pot! Still 12 handed

I'm trying to record, as much as possible, whenever somebody moves in, even if they win or split pot.  This is one of those times.  I think I remember hearing that either Stacy or Shawn had a suited hand and the flop came 2 of those suits and was basically freerolling. I *think* it was Stacy.  Anybody confirm?

 

@Marc_Julien moves in and Marcel calls. AJ club vs TT respectively. Flop comes 3 clubs and Marc doubles up. Still 12 handed.

Marc was pretty short stacked, so I think this hand pretty much played itself.  One thing that was interesting that I didn't mention in the tweet (damn 140 character limit), is that the board paired on the turn, so even though Marc flopped the nuts, it was still a sweat. Obviously, the river was a blank.

 

Stacy's the first out! Moves in with 88 and Shawn calls. Shawn hits two pair. That's how real players play.

I don't know how short Stacy was and how this hand played out... so I don't want to say too much on it. If Shawn raised trying to steal and priced himself in, then it's understandable.  If Stacy moved in on Shawn's big blind and Shawn was priced to call, then ok.  Otherwise, I don't really see this being a profitable situation?  Anybody care to elaborate?

I know I said that I would take better pictures, and Jim tweeted me calling me out on horrible picture taking... and it's true, I took horrible pictures all night. The thing is, whenever I take a picture, it's during a big turn of events, so somebody is most likely steaming, and I don't like taking my time and getting a good picture.  I just want to sneak it, snap quickly, and leave.

 

Dana just busted! Shoved pre-flop with AJ and Dave Fraser calls with 78 hearts. Board comes k54J6. Nice river for Dave and now merge!

This was at the other table so I don't know much around it. So depends on how much the shove was, a pseudo-loose call by Dave, but I think it's pretty standard.

 

Dan just busts. Shawn raises and Dan shoves. Dan shows KK and shawn shows AQ. Board comes AQ645. Things are moving now.

What can I say, Shawn was running REALLY good. In his defence, it's a no brainer to call in that situation... just unlucky for Dan.

 

Shawn is big stack and really using it well. He's dominating the table.

Man, Shawn was playing the big stack extremely well.  Raising 3.5x - 4.5x BB just about every single hand.  Really handcuffing most of the table... most of us were under average in chips at this point, so... respect.

 

@rongela73 busts against marcel. Marcel pushes with AQ and Angela calls with KQ. The board doesn't help Ang and we're down to 7 handed.

Angela litterally created her Twitter ID about an hour before this post, so for furture reference, @rongela73 = Angela.  Angela really hung in there with a super short stack for a super long time... but couldn't win this dominated hand.

 

@Dave_Robichaud busts against Chris. Dave moves in with AQ and Chris moves in with AK. Board comes 78KJ9. Dave's out and down to 6 handed.

Self explanatory.  I had about 1500 in chips and the blinds were 100-200 or 150-300... not 100% sure.  but either way, I knew I was commited if I put in a standard raise, so I just shoved.  Unfortunately for me, Chris "fold my way into the money" Campbell, woke up with a hand behind me.

 

Marcel just doubles up vs Dave Fraser. AQ vs A7. Board is A998T and marcel is back in it.

This was the very next hand after I busted, so I don't really know what happened here, but looks kinda standard.  Dave calls with an ace against Marcel that was short stacked, so Marcel's range is kinda wide at this point.

 

Shawn raises, Dave16 moves in and Shawn calls. Shawn 88 vs Dave A2. The board was JQ6K5. Dave is out, down to 5-handed.

I think this was the very next hand after Marcel's double up.  Shawn is unstoppable.  I blame it on Stacy who was dealing.  I think she was dealing from the bottom of the deck!

 

Shawn knocks out Roland! Sucks out with A7 vs Roland's AK. Roland busts on the bubble and now down to 4-handed

I was home at this point, so I'm just relaying information from text messages I was getting from Shawn.  Roland limps with his short stack with AK, and Shawn raises with A7, and Roland calls (which was his all in I believe).  From what I hear, Roland REALLY wasn't happy with this suck out!  It's a 75/25... but you know, "that's poker".

 

Marcel busts Barb holding AT vs her A6. 3-handed!

I don't have much info on this... this is just what I got from Shawn.  Any ace when they are 4 handed is a pretty strong hand, so, pending stack sizes, this hand looks like it played itself.

 

Chris just knocked out by Shawn! Shawn had AA and Chris had 66. Marcel folded JJ! Now Shawn and Marcel heads up

Great fold by Marcel, and I can only assume that Chris was mega short stacked when he pushed with 66.... of course Shawn wakes up with AA (thanks Stacy!)

 

Shawn wins! Shawn moves in with 55 preflop and Marcel calls with K3. Shawn ends up with a full house and takes teh game down. Congrats!

I don't know the stack sizes... K3 seems like a loose call, but I wasn't there, so not sure about the hand.  Maybe Marcel or Shawn can elaborate?

 

Thanks to everybody who came to the game and a huge thank you to Barb and Dana for being such gracious hosts. Fricot was AWESOME!
