MonctonPokerClub.com goes MOBILE!
Oct 28, 2011 by Dave Robichaud
Hey guys,
I'm sure most of you have already noticed, but I have been working on a mobile version of MonctonPokerClub.com and it's pretty much done!
If you visit the site on a mobile device, such as an iPhone, BlackBerry, or Android phone, you will automatically be redirected to the mobile site (an iPad will NOT redirect you). It's basically a smaller, more streamlined version of the site that is viewed a lot better on smaller screens, found on smartphones.
You'll notice that the site doesn't have all the data that the full version of the site has, and this was done on purpose for a few reason.
First, I wanted the site to load faster. Because it's on a mobile phone, speed was a priority.
Second, I didn't want to use up all of the screen's real estate because I was dealing with limited size.
I've brought over what I thought was the most important information: About Us, Big Pot, Games, Official Rules, Players and Standings, Player Profiles, Point breakdowns, and Game Details
Pages that are available once logged in: registering/unregistering for a game, scheduling/updating/cancelling a game, and updating standings.
So, I deemed pages such as posting comments on a game, viewing past season results, and the search utility to be secondary features and left them out.
If you want to see the full site, you are able to click the "full site" link on the bottom of any page, and that will bring you to the full version of the site you're used to seeing. The device will save your settings (via browser cookie) and every subsequent visit to MonctonPokerClub.com will always bring you to the full site. If you wish to return to the mobile site, you can clear your browsing history and let the site redirect you automatically, or you can manually visit www.monctonpokerclub.com/m.
Please let me know what you think of it and if you believe there are any changes that need to be made.
Cheers
Dave
